Full Text

Mr. Graham, the Whig candidate for Vice President, has written a letter to the editor of the Wilmington (N. C.) Commercial, declining to have his name used on a ticket with Mr. Webster, as President. He says that Scott was fairly nominated, and that honor demands an acquiescence by the Whigs of the Union. He has a great regard for Mr. Webster, and would have supported him with great pleasure if he had been nominated. But he cannot permit his name to be used in any manner that shall convey any implication that Gen. Scott is not eminently worthy the votes of the freemen of the Republic. This is the talk of a true Whig.
