The War Rumor Officially Denied.
The rumor of Saturday and yesterday, that Mexico had declared war against the United States, proves to be, as I supposed it would, but an idle rumor. I learn, this morning, from the Secretary of State, that no information of such a fact has been received by the Government, either officially or unofficially; and, further, that nothing whatever has reached the Department of State, by the mails of the past two days, communicating information relative to affairs between Mexico and the United States. The report was probably set afloat for stock-jobbing purposes, by those embarked in that species of legalized gambling.
