Philadelphia, April 1.
A Barbadoes paper, of December 15, contains accounts of the formal surrender of the colony of Martinique to the French, (pursuant to treaty) on the 2d of that month. The change of flag was announced by the thunder of artillery from the batteries and ships, while the populace rent the air with "Vive le Roi! Vive les Bourbons!" The most cordial unanimity prevailed amongst all parties, and a splendid entertainment was given by Sir James Leith, the commander in chief, in honor of the ceremony. The colony of Martinique is now, therefore, under the entire control of the government of France. Maj. General Lindsey is the governor of the colony.
