[From the Philadelphia Democratic Press.]
That the Intemperance of Party Spirit has subsided, is a truth felt and acknowledged by every man in the United States. No effort, under existing circumstances, can raise it to the height it has been. The people desire to be tranquil. It is in vain that office hunters and office holders labour, here and there, to beget violence and disturb the harmonious intercourse, which happily exists between men of different political denominations. These efforts to inflame the passions are generally made by interested men on the eve of an election, when the coming contest warms the blood and stimulates the zeal.
