Full Text
Clothes Stealing.-We have heard a great many complaints from our citizens lately, of clothes being stolen from the lines by a set of rascals who infest our city. On Saturday evening last there were two of our citizens robbed in this manner. The idea that people who live in a civilized community cannot hang their clothes out to dry without having them stolen, is a new one to us. The next meanest man to a man that will steal sheep, is one that will steal clothes from a line, and we have never seen an epithet in the language mean enough to apply to such a man. Such a fellow, if caught, ought to be banished to New Jersey or some other Copperhead locality, and the Lord have mercy on his soul.
