A gentleman lately returned from his travels informs us, that landing one day at the door of an eminent merchant's, at Brussels, an old man, with a long beard and half naked, came up to the door, and pulling off a torn slouch'd hat, shook his head, and in the most humble accents begged for as much charity as would buy a loaf of bread. The gentleman finding that he spoke the English language, asked him his name and history, and to his great surprise he discovered that it was the infamous apostate and renegade Silas Deane.
