Hon. Louis M'Lane, late Minister to Great Britain, arrived at New-York in the packet ship President from London on Wednesday of last week. He is expected to proceed forthwith to Washington to take charge of the Treasury Department.

Mr. Van Buren, who was spending some days at Saratoga Springs, immediately on the arrival of Mr. M'Lane proceeded to New-York to have an interview with him. It is believed Mr. Van Buren has been appointed the successor of Mr. M'Lane, and that he will sail from New-York in the frigate Potomac for London in a few days.
