OHIO.

Army of the Cumberland

Toledo, September 22. The 12th reunion of the Army of the Cumberland commenced in this city this morning, with some 500 members of the society present. Among others were Generals Garfield, Sheridan, Prouty, Cist, and Meissner. A letter of regret was received from General Hancock, as follows:

"I regret that I am unable to accept the invitation to be present at the twelfth reunion of the Society of the Army of the Cumberland, to be held at Toledo, Sept. 22d and 23d. Please express to all concerned my best wishes for the success of the occasion. With thanks for your courtesy in the matter, I am,

Very truly yours,

Winfield S. Hancock."

General Grant sent the following telegram:-

Galena, Ill., September 22. I don't think it possible for me to be in Toledo at the reunion. I regret very much that my engagements will not permit my doing so.

Exercises opened with a salute at daybreak.
