The higher department of the village school under the direction of Mr. N. C. B. Haviland closed Friday eve the 26th of Feb., with an exhibition. The house was well filled and the parts thoroughly committed and well sustained. Fifteen dollars was realized above expenses, which is to be used for the purchase of a globe for the school.

The Primary Department taught by Miss Dora White closed Friday afternoon the 5th; quite a good number were present to witness the closing exercises all of which showed that the scholars had had thorough instruction during the past winter, which plainly shows that Miss White is mistress of what she professes to teach.

The Lower Village school taught by Miss Alice Cowles of Peacham closed the 10th of Feb., and is well worthy of note. We copy from the Superintendent's report. He says: I found it a first class school. They were handled with military precision, going out and coming in; coming into the classes, &c., was in the most perfect order. The questioning was well directed to the thinking powers of the pupil. The explanations were clearly given, and instruction generally was characteristic of an excellent scholar and teacher. This district may well pride themselves on their school the past winter.
