PORTUGAL.

The Lisbon advices state that the extent of damage done to the vineyards of Madeira was more extensive than had been originally declared. Dates to December 19th state that the tariff question was still the subject of anxious discussion. Further reductions are confidently predicted, the nature and extent of them, however, were not known. The point in dispute is that the English require a reduction on all articles, so that the duty may be equivalent to 20 per cent. The Portuguese object that they themselves are bound to protect certain articles which they manufacture. The impost on others they do not refuse to allow.
