Full Text

St. Augustine went to Jacksonville for its Ponce de Leon and selected Col. W. M. Toomer, of Jacksonville, for that honor. Colonel Toomer's rapid rise in the world has been gratifying to his friends. Fifteen years ago, he was official court stenographer of the Brunswick (Ga.) judicial circuit. Engaging in the active practice of law, he served a term as solicitor-general of the same circuit and then transferred his activities to Jacksonville, where he took a leading place in the naval stores industry, which was just then making a score of Floridians rich. Colonel Toomer is now rated not only as a leading lawyer, but as one of the captains of industry of Jacksonville and the honor bestowed upon him is deserved and will be most worthily worn. That reminds the Tribune that Col. W. E. Kay, also of Jacksonville, and the "big lawyer" of the Atlantic Coast Line, also "got his start" in the same job of court reporting in the old Brunswick circuit.-Tampa Tribune.

Brunswick is always turning out good products and these are just a sample.
