Full Text

The continued insults of the British are not more surprising than the pusillanimity with which they are borne by the United States: when we consider that on one hand they have actually invaded our territory, by erecting forts within our boundaries:

and on the other, that they are continually capturing our ships under various pretexts, abusing our seamen and insulting our flag, we cannot help being astonished at the unaccountable tameness of the counsels of the union. Have we not reason to suppose, that modern Britain has blessed us in the words of the patriarch of Israel, "Issachar is a strong ass crouching down between two burdens: and he saw the rest was good and the land that it was pleasant, and he bowed his shoulders to bear, and became a servant unto tribute."
