Where Mr. McDermott Is,

"Where are you, Mr. McDermott?" howls the "Journal."

The "Journal" is the only person in any way doubtful as to where Mr. McDermott is. He is right on the platform of Democracy-true Democracy, the Democracy of Jefferson and Jackson and Tilden and Abbett.

He is for economical expenditures at home and the cessation of injustice abroad. He is for a moderate army, a good navy, a territory limited to American soil, sound money, the abolition of subsidies and of taxation in the interest of monopoly.

He is against jobbery in the army, he is against continuing a state of war to provide patronage for party favorites. He is against the theft of territory from its rightful owners, and the purchase of slaves by the Federal government. He is against scandalous appointments in the civil service and the domination of bosses over the affairs of the country.

No matter who is elected President, the people can feel sure that so far as one vote will go, Mr. McDermott will always be an obstacle to Congress sanctioning the wrongdoing of the National Executive.
