Full Text

Indian Summer.

The dry season now commencing is what we usually term the Indian summer, which generally lasts about a fortnight. The severe frosts we have had during the last two weeks, almost every night in succession, indicate the sure approach of winter, the inverted year, when the sun hangs on the farthest verge of heaven, and scarce spreads through ether the dejected day. Now is the time that should not be lost by those who have to glean the teeming products of the earth, while yet the last fold of autumn's mantle rests on the groves and hazy hills.
