The Allen Christian Endeavor Union League met last Sunday at 5 p. m. at St. James A. M. E. Church. Mr. Brinson, the president, called the meeting to order and after devotional services announced the topic: "What Christianity has done for the world". Matt. 13: 31-33. The scripture was read in concert by the members. "Just a Word for Jesus" was then sung. Mrs. H. Sales then read the Bible references from Isaiah 2:4, "Multiplied Joy" Isaiah 9:1-6. Mrs. Davis, "Redeemed Womanhood" Luke 7:36-48. Mrs. R. Drayton "Sanctified Homes" Luke 10: 30-42. Mrs. Corine Morrison, "Inspired Hope" I Peter 1:3-16. Mrs. Mollie Brown. The topic "What Christianity has done for the world" was discussed by Mrs. Hester Sales, Mrs. Janie Davis, Mr. A. Hines, Mr. Peterson, Rev. P. F. Curry, D. D., Messrs. W. O. P. Sherman, Jr., J. Brinson spoke briefly on the subject. Mrs. Rosa Bradley read a splendid paper, subject "What a woman can do for the uplift of mankind".
Duett by Miss Sadie Lightburn and Miss Wilhelmina Alexander. "Come Holy Spirit" was beautifully rendered. The league spent a few minutes on the life and death of the late Bishop H. M. Turner, it being his memorial. Dr. P. F. Curry delivered the eulogy in a befitting way. Resolutions were read and adopted. The next meeting will be held at Old St. Philip, New Street, August 15, 5 p. m., topic "Be true to your ideals". Acts 26: 12-19. You are invited to be present at the next meeting.
