Cremation Of Eva Peron Is Denied

BUENOS AIRES ( ) - A high Argentine official says the body of Eva Peron was not cremated after her dictator husband was overthrown but was given a "Christian burial."

The cremation report was published in the Rio de Janeiro newspaper Diario de Noticias, whose Buenos Aires correspondent said the ashes were scattered over the river Plate.

The official denying the report, who would not permit use of his name, said Eva's body had been taken from its temporary resting place in the Buenos Aires headquarters of the General Confederation of Labor and buried. He refused, however, to give the location of the grave.
