NAYLOR TO DIRECT
THE RIPLEY BAND
New Leader Will Take Over the Organization There On July 1.
Ripley, Ohio. John Naylor of Georgetown has been hired by the Board of Education to direct the Ripley High School Band the coming year. He will take the organization over the first of July at which time rehearsals will start.
Prof. Naylor has established a fine reputation as a band master, and has been successful with all the musical organizations he ever conducted.
Under his leadership the Ripley Band should forge ahead steadily and become one of the best school bands in this locality, since Mr. Naylor has promised to give it his best attention.
Ray N. Richey, the organizer and former director of the Ripley High School Band, resigned his position both here and at Maysville as bandmaster and in the future will be connected with the Baldwin Piano Company at Portsmouth.
At Maysville, Richey stated that lack of co-operation on the part of members of the band and refusals of the boys to come to rehearsals, made it impossible for him to build up a good musical organization. He also said that the reimbursements which he received hardly paid his expenses, and for this reason he was relinquishing his post.
