Full Text

From the Boston Journal.

We understand a beautiful silver mounted walking cane was presented to Mr. Ebenezer Clough, on Monday last, by a number of old fashion Republicans of this city, for the independent manner in which he appeared in the public prints, of Wednesday last. On this cane is engraven the following:--

"From the Republicans of Boston, to their firm, undeviating, Republican friend, Mr. Ebenezer Clough, 4th of May, 1829."

On the lower part of the rim, round the cane, is the following memorandum

"City of Boston, April 28th, 1829--This day Mr. Ebenezer Clough was dismissed from the Custom-House by David Henshaw for not voting for General Jackson for President."
