We publish the annexed extract from the interior as an encouragement to exertion. From different parts of the country we hear of considerable impression made by recent events on public opinion. The friends of the cause in every county, should form Committees, distribute documents and prepare for the election. The enemy is busy. The mails groan under the weight of extra Globes. Is the course which we support, less worthy of zeal and exertion?
"The cause of Henry Clay, is evidently gaining ground in this neighborhood. A good many who were formerly the friends of Gen. Jackson, have determined not to support him, and are halting whether or not, they shall throw their weight into the scales of Henry Clay. Webb's Address has had very considerable effect. I wish very much it could be more generally circulated. I should like to know what has become of our Address; we have been looking anxiously for it. It was to have been printed in Lynchburg. I discover that Mr. Ritchie is serving it a good deal as he did the Alabama resolutions. He has promised three times to publish it. Could you not publish an Extra Whig?— We have determined to embrace the propositions of the Telegraph and will send on this evening for his Extras. Virginia is ripe for reformation. She is evidently disgusted with the rule of Ritchie & Co. I have lately heard men of standing, who have taken his paper for the last twenty years, express the utmost disgust at his character and course. A good many have ceased entirely to believe what he says. How silent he is on the subject of Tazewell's letter. I hope Mr. will redeem his promise and give us the substance of it. That may call forth the letter-It must then come as it is."
