Full Text

The gall of bitterness lately poured out on the Massachusetts members in Congress is but the dregs of the old phial. For six years Mess. Ames, Goodhue, Sedgwick, &c. &c. have been the theme of calumny; but at three several elections when the " VOICE OF THE PEOPLE" is most emphatically pronounced, we have seen them honoured with the increasing suffrages of their fellow citizens, as the reward of their independence and patriotism. They know, that from them their constituents still expect a continuation of that conduct : They bid them be unmoved by the clamour of competitors, and unshaken by the arts of those who would dissolve the Union, destroy justice, introduce domestic infelicity, and entail on their country the horrors of an unnecessary foreign war !
