We want to extend our thanks to 'Shorty' Sager for the work he has done for the past months as your shop reporter. 'Shorty' has taken up a much easier task as a member of the executive committee.
Our column was equal to any published in the JOURNAL. Before taking up his duties as shop reporter "Shorty" had nice wavy hair. but look at him now. From the bottom of our hearts. we wish "Shorty" success in his new job on the committee.
STOPPAGE
Our recent "work stoppage" was really not a stoppage brought about by the workers. but came after the management shut off the power. The true facts on this were reported in last week's JOURNAL. (Toledo Blade please copy).
Our soldiers fund is maintained by voluntary contributions and all should consider it a privilege to be able to do a little bit for the boys who are doing so much for their country.
Despite this, there are certain people in dept. 36 who have taken it upon themselves to make their own rules. It was the act of our Unit that the names be posted on the shop bulletin boards showing those who gave and those who did not give to the fund. If the brothers who tried to change the rules had attended the meeting and voiced their protest instead of trying to force the Unit to change its rules outside of a meeting they would be a lot better off
Meantime, our stewards must be and will be protected against members who seek to intimidate them when they are carrying out the instructions of the Unit body. Congratulations for all who are giving to the fund and to the stewards who are doing their duty.
