Her Scalp Torn from Her Head,
CHICAGO, July 12.-Mary Maloney, 25 years of age, employed in a steam laundry, met with a peculiar accident Friday morning, the result of which will be serious if not fatal. At 11 o'clock, while at work around the machinery, her hair was caught in the shafting, and her entire scalp was torn from her head as she was lifted from her feet by the revolving shaft. She was taken to her home, where it took two physicians four hours to sew on her scalp. They say the wound will heal, and the girl will recover, unless erysipelas sets in, but they think her mind will be permanently affected.
