First Tabernacle Baptist Church

Impressive memorial services were conducted for our former pastor, Rev. E. D. Davis, on last Sunday morning in 1st Tabernacle. This illustrious life came to a close fourteen years ago. Mrs. M. A. Scarbor served as mistress of ceremonies with Mrs. A. L. Grubbs as president. Besides the splendid numbers rendered by our own members, Mrs. E. Miller and Messrs. McMoore and Ruffner gave excellent renditions.

Our sons, Revs. J. P. Sapp and J. C. McAllister were in charge of pulpit services; expressions were made by Rev. J. T. Taylor also. Appreciative numbers witnessed these services, the senior and Imperial choirs with Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. Jenkins at the piano were in charge of the music.

During Sunday school hour we acknowledged the birthdays of several members; there were 16 visitors.

The offering banners were returned to Mrs. Scarbor's class to Mrs. Pryor and from Mrs. Graves to Mrs. Myers' class. Favorite refreshments were served the entire group.

This Sunday being the third Sunday the public is invited to give moral support to the youth who will be featured in various activities from Sunday school through Training Union hour at 6 p.m.

A telegram was received from Pastor Lane who attended the National Convention in Chicago.

This Thursday at the usual hour Senior Mission will be held. Remember the variety dinner this Saturday at the home of Mrs. Dillard, 514 W. 33rd.

Sis. Janie Gillard is much improved and attended church Sunday. Sis. Millie Williams is at home after being confined in Memorial Hospital. Sis. and Bro. Hobbs are improving and our prayers are made for all that good health soon returns.

Rev. E. G. Lane, pastor; Mrs. Lillie T. Lewis, scribe.
