Shopping List Suggested For Teenage Gifts
By ALICIA HART

The lucky teenager whose family and friends ask outright what she would like for Christmas should be ready with the answers. To say "I don't know" or "Oh, just anything" is the sure way of getting something you won't want.

While you're making out your own shopping list, try to have well in mind what you would like and need. These can be small things: scarves, jewelry, blouses, sweaters. They need not cost much but they can boost both your wardrobe and your appearance.

Be specific. Say what your color preference is and what style you would like. A tailored skirt calls for a tailored blouse. A velvet skirt takes a ruffled ladylike blouse. Similarly, if what you really need is some simple pearl jewelry for school wear, you won't welcome lots of sparkly rhinestones no matter how pretty they may be.

So speak up if you're asked and save yourself and a salesgirl the trouble of an exchange when the holidays are over.

A good many gray-haired women are timid about wearing either vivid or pastel colors. They stick with the black, brown and gray school of dressing with the result that they appear drab and dull. Yet, when you do see a silver-haired woman in a royal blue or emerald suit, you know what a handsome sight this is.

The clue lies partially in the world "silver."

For gray hair often needs the added sparkle that comes from a rinse. Once this is accomplished, strike out boldly in the direction of color. Take into consideration your skin tones, height and weight just as any woman must do. And if you don't really like a color (red, for instance), don't wear it. But otherwise, give yourself a color break.

For at home wear, treat yourself to some pretty robes in lilac, pink or blue. And keep in mind that a brilliant color can be as basic to a planned wardrobe as a dull color.

If your eyebrows are unruly and curly, they need clipping rather than plucking. Use a small, sharp scissors and prop your elbow on a table to keep your hand steady. Remember, you are working close to the eye.

When you've finished clipping, smooth some cold cream over your brows and give them a good brushing with a tiny eyebrow brush. This may be the only grooming they need.
