FIFTY ISSUED THUS FAR PERMITTING SALE OF INTOXICANTS
Tax Collector Frank H. Ladd announced this morning that liquor licenses had been coming in fast and that 50 licenses had been purchased here for the sale of intoxicating beverages in Monroe County. As of Jan 32 boa-
Two licenses were issued to distributors of liquors, and one license to a distributor of beer and wine. Other licenses to the number of 47 were issued to retail dealers. Of this number there were 13 issued to retail liquor dealers and 34 to vendors of beer and wine.
Distributors of liquor pay a license $350, and of beer and wine, $200. Retail dealers in liquor pay a license of $300, and retail dealers in beer and wine, pay $15. Mr. Ladd said that they were practically all provided with licenses, or would be when the office closed this afternoon. One or two had not arrived from the Keys, but were expected this afternoon.
The tax collector said that the fact that these licenses should be on display October 1, today, had been thoroughly impressed on the minds of dealers in alcoholic beverages, and there was no excuse for any of them who had neglected to be ready when the officers of the State Beverage Department made their usual inspection.
