Mr. Pressey is home again. The nights are beginning to be frosty. There are Belgian hares for sale at Fairview farm. Mason Fitzhugh is cutting wood for the Island Lime Company. The Deer Harbor Sunday school is in a fine working condition. Mr. Scott gave a birthday dinner last Thursday—turkey on toast. E. Cadwell has filed a contest on homestead on Blakely island. A Mr. Davis, just from Iowa, is coopering for the Island Lime Company. H. T. Cayou and family were up from Decatur to the Scott dinner Thursday. Miss Lou Wakefield is home again. It is reported that she is likely to teach the West Sound school. Mr. Smaby should raise Angora goats, as he owns a tract of land that would be suitable for them to range on. Mr. Smaby, the West Sound merchant, contemplating establishing a branch store at the Island Lime works. This has become quite a 'hop' region, but obviously without any resulting benefit to the community. There was a hop at Mr. Weddle's last week, one at Mr. Pressey's, one at Mr. Norton's and there is to be one at the Bert Thompson house on the west shore Friday night. Out near the Earle Lime works a ladder fastened to a tree hangs down the face of an almost perpendicular bluff. On the first step are the figures 200, and it looks to be about that distance down to the kiln. If this is an exaggeration it is probably not more than 2,500 feet "off."
