STANZAS.
Written after the manner of Collins' "How sleep the brave who sink to rest"

How sleep the brave who sink to rest,
By kindred spirits sooth'd and blest;
When cheeks grow pale, and pulses weak,
The tongue would fain, but cannot speak,
And holy love embalms each sigh,
Oh! it is blissful then to die.

When Love sustains the aching head,
Which soon must rest on lowly bed;
And sees its own affianced heart,
From its frail ties with earth depart,
Oh! it is more than bliss to see,
In death, Love's firm fidelity.
