Income Tax for 1863.
Below we publish an abstract from the Federal Assessor's books, of the incomes, as given in by the parties assessed. Comment is unnecessary. The poverty of our citizens is lamentable. The assessment for '64 will appear in our columns ere long, and if the same glaring record presents itself, we shall comment on each name that to us appears like coming short of fact. There are some names in this list who have given a fair return. Our readers within the county can easily distinguish them from those that appear otherwise than true. The present list is not only short in amount, but in the number assessed:
