MALTA BEND

A goodly number of Masons attended Lodge at Marshall Tuesday night.

Percy Houston was at home from Marshall over Sunday.

We are glad to say that C. Payne was able to take his girl to church Sunday night.

The Odd Fellows had a "Feed" at their meeting last Friday night.

A revival service will begin at the First M. E. Church Sunday. The services will be conducted by Evangelist Beadles of Denver. He will be here for three weeks.

Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Martin of Sedalia who have been visiting relatives and friends here for several days returned to their home Tuesday night.

C. O. Walker is one of the regular panel of jurors for this term of court.

Chas. Shaffer was transacting business in Marshall Saturday.

Mrs. Herbert Ransberger of Mt. Leonard spent Friday with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Everett Fulton.

Wonder what seems to be the attraction in Malta Bend for all the Grand Pass boys.

Miss Alma Rosenfield is spending a month with Mrs. John Morrison at Excelsior Springs.

S. T. Wilson returned home Sunday morning from a business trip to Kansas City and St. Joseph.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Malters were down from Lexington the first of last week visiting relatives and friends.

S. P. Houston went to Blackwater Monday to look at a bunch of cattle. He received the proper warning before he started. (Told us he was going to Chicago.-Editor.)

Wild geese must be getting plentiful in Saline county as Willie Stockman killed two last week.

On last Sunday evening the air was full of ducks going south but when our nimrods went after them Monday but few were to be seen.

J. D. Cole we are sorry to say had a severe chill Monday morning. Now Jasper you had better take heed and hereafter only take one girl at a time maybe it won't prove so serious next time.

Maurine and Miriam Brown who are attending school at Fayette were home on a visit the latter part of last week.

Dr. Nuckels who has several patients here was up Monday morning before many were out of bed.

Mr. Brashears has moved to Blackburn.

C. A. White, with a gang of men are putting in the concrete culvert south of town.

A freight train at Stanhope ran into a bunch of fat cattle Sunday afternoon, killing 10 of them. They belonged to B. F. Garst.

Wm. Baker was a Marshall visitor Monday.

S. C. Tobin has bought the 80 acre farm from Mr. Mills. The deal was closed last Saturday.

Several from here attended the foot ball game at Marshall Monday.

A. S. Van Anglen was in Kansas City on business the latter part of last week.

Miss Elsa Tobin was in Marshall last Tuesday.

Misses Audry Huff of Marshall and Mae Williams of the Bottom were guests of L. O. Nye and family several days last week.

Misses Artie and Esther Carter were in Waverly last Saturday.

Miss Frances Pittman was shopping in town Saturday.

F. D. Stockman was a Marshall visitor Saturday.

Jim Tatum of Grand was visiting G. A. Renick last week.

Misses Maurine Gauldin and Merle Blosser spent Saturday and Sunday with the former's parents Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Gauldin at Stanhope.

Sam Cole who has been real sick is much better.

Mrs. J. B. Meschede who has been under Dr. Van Ravensway's care in the sanitarium in Boonville we are glad to say is getting along nicely and was brought home Saturday evening by her husband and Ed Stockman who went down Saturday morning.

Mrs. Arch Deckard spent Wednesday with her son Joe and wife.

Mrs. Chas. Lunbeck was shopping in the county seat Wednesday.

Frank Utz of Marshall came up Wednesday evening returning on Friday morning.

Clyde Williams of Napton was in our town last Thursday.

Glen Franklin was a Marshall visitor Thursday.

The play given at the opera house Thursday night was well attended and enjoyed by all.

Mrs. Edwards of Grand Pass was shopping in town Thursday.

The Ladies Aid Society of the M. E. Church south held an all day quilting at Mrs. Wm. Brown last Thursday.

Wm. Hanley, wife and children and Mrs. Charles Ross were Marshall visitors Saturday.

The Missionary Society of the Christian Church held an all day quilting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mack Byrd last Thursday.
