The new Ahrens-Fox fire engine recently contracted for by City Council, and which was to be delivered before the first of the year, has already arrived in Pleasantville and is housed in the Washington avenue fire station. The engine came in Sunday under its own power, having been driven from the factory in Cincinnati.
The engine will be given a thorough test on Thursday before a representative of the Board of Fire Insurance Underwriters and members of City Council. If the apparatus proves satisfactory to the underwriters' representative and Council, it will be formally accepted at the next meeting of Council following the test. Four separate lines of hose can be attached to this pumper, and it will deliver 1,000 gallons of water per minute for an indefinite period during a fire. The firemen are well pleased with the new apparatus, and the city now has a fire engine able to cope with any blaze which may occur.
The fire company will hold a meeting this Tuesday night at 8 o'clock, and Chief Hudson desires all members to attend, as important business is to be transacted.
