The following letter has just been published. It was addressed to Gen. Pierce, who had enclosed to the President certain resolutions adopted by the New Hampshire Constitutional Convention at its first session, in relation to the Union and the Compromise measures of Congress;
Washington, Jan. 14, 1851.
Dear Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of the resolutions passed by the Convention to revise the Constitution of the State of New Hampshire, which you transmitted to me. I am highly gratified to see State after State assuming the high and patriotic ground in favor of the Union, now occupied by New Hampshire; and beg leave to make my grateful acknowledgments to the Convention for the flattering terms in which they have expressed their approbation of the attitude of the Executive of the General Government upon the subject.
