LATEST FROM ENGLAND.

This moment arrived the schooner Fair Trader, capt. Shackleford, 6 days from Halifax: By her, we have received papers and letters of that place to the 7th inst.

Extract of a letter to the Editor, dated HALIFAX, August 7.

Yesterday arrived the frigate Jamaica, in 29 days from Portsmouth, England, and has furnished us with London dates to July 5. These papers though several days later than before received, contain no information of importance. There appears to be no news of moment from the continent. Both armies kept their station on the Danube, and were concentrating their forces-- The expedition in England, on the eve of sailing -St. Andero taken by the Patriots, and two days afterwards was retaken by the French-King Joseph at Madrid--The Statesman of July 3, says. we understand orders have been issued for laying a general embargo in all the Ports of the United Kingdoms-Liniers, in South America, has declared in favor of Ferdinand VII.-Mr. Jackson had not sailed for America at the last dates.
