DEPRES-
SIONS?
Hush little speculator . . . don't you cry . . . for we'll have another war bye and bye . . . don't you remember about a year ago . . . when business was getting just a little bit slow . . . when the country seemingly needed . . . a shot in the arm . . . to bring prosperity to mart and farm . . . the voters were crying for relief from taxes . . . for a war had been concluded with the Japs and Axis . . .
Hush little speculator . . . don't you cry . . . for we'll have another war bye and bye . . . and then supply funds for political riches . . .
But no . . . said the brass in the government . . . the money we've borrowed has long been spent . . . if taxes we reduce . . . we'll ask you honestly . . . just how in the deuce . . . are we to continue our spending . . . giving and lending . . . to every nation regardless of their wealth or political station . . . with these facts all absorbed in your mind . . . we'll ask in all sincerity . . . why are we to find . . . these billions of dollars by the government voted . . . to build ghost houses and government ditches . . . cargo ships which have never been floated . . .
price of souls . . . of the boys . . . who have died . . . or again . . . do we hear the voice of Wall Street crying . . . above the din of the dead and dying . . . hush little speculator . . . don't you cry . . . for we'll have another war bye and bye . . .
Here's the answer . . . and with much happiness and smiling . . . the way out of this is simple and beguiling . . . create another war . . . in some foreign country . . . where billions must be spent . . . by this government . . . to build new ships and buy guns . . . to blast them to hell . . . as we did the Huns . . . our kids will be shipped to Asian lands . . . where billions of gold will be swiftly spent . . . and thousands of souls speedily sent . . . to feed the maw . . . of the greedy and gluttonous god of war . . . the markets will soar . . . as we listen to the roar . . . of the third World War on a foreign shore . . .
But today . . . if you'll read the morning papers . . . prices are dropping on the New York Mart . . . for the foreign legions may soon depart . . . the whine of the shells and cannon's thunder . . . may soon be stilled . . . and then we wonder . . . if the greedy sharks are satisfied . . . with the
