Cost of Radical Rule. Since the surrender of Lee's army the Radical Government at Washington have borrowed about eight hundred millions of dollars, and have collected in addition thereto from the people during the same period, by way of taxes and custom duties, fourteen hundred millions, which make two thousand two hundred millions that they have expended since the close of the rebellion. This is one-half of the entire debt of Great Britain, and more than the entire amount expended by the National Government from the time that George Washington was first inaugurated President up to the close of Buchanan's administration; during which time the country went through two successful foreign wars, and any number of wars with the Indians, and also acquired all the territory of the United States west of the Mississippi River. These facts speak for themselves.
