LATEST IN FIRST AID APPARATUS FOR MINERS

Photograph shows a miner wearing on his back a newly developed first aid mine apparatus which has recently been perfected by German scientists. In front, the apparatus resembles the gas mask worn by soldiers in the World war. The device is intended to protect miners from deadly gases and to prolong their lives if trapped by a cave-in. The apparatus will keep a man alive a week, which is usually ample time for rescue crews to reach entombed miners. The device carries food sufficient to sustain life for seven days.
