A PROPER ANSWER.
An Open Letter to Typographical Union, No. 47.
GENTLEMEN:—You have appealed to the Supreme Court in behalf of some of your members who were "found guilty" of having executed the will of Organized Labor in the Courier affair.
Now, as this is really a question that concerns all who have to earn their bread by the sweat of their brow, and as some people attempt to make themselves believe that the Boycott comes under the head of criminal law, I would suggest that you appeal to the highest tribunal in the State—the people. The will of the people, politicians tell us at election times, is the source of all law. Well, let's have the decision of the people on the subject, and the easiest way to get at it, it seems to me, would be for you to nominate for office each one of those found guilty.
In the long list between fence viewer, mayor and congressmen there ought to be some job which these men might fill with credit to themselves and those who will vote for them. The rest of the ticket could be filled out with men from the labor ranks.
This would be the proper answer and veto for this monstrous "Found Guilty."
