Full Text
The political abilities of the King of Prussia shine forth with conspicuous lustre in his negociations with foreign states, and admirable policy towards the powers on whom the welfare of his kingdom depends. His cabinet has been long deemed impenetrable; no access by bribery or undue foreign influence can be obtained to his secret councils; his measures are cautiously taken, but decisively executed; you scarcely know he has determined before the business is done. In short, the Prussian Monarch is an all accomplished Stateman: and a detail of his measures will to after ages be full as entertaining as the commentaries of a Caesar, or the history of a Thucydides, in the transactions of which they both bore an active part, worthy of themselves, and the renowned nations to which they both belonged.
