PERSONNEL ARE COMPLETING COURSES
If you haven't been studying or getting qualified the time is drawing near to the August examinations for advancement in rating. You still have time for getting ready for them but if you aren't qualified NOW you no doubt will be ineligible to compete in the Proficiency Pay examinations which are going to be held in May.
Naval Station Notice 1418 of 16 March 1961 required that Department Heads submit recommendations for personnel in their department to the I&E Officer not later than 1600 24 March 1961. It also gives information on eligibility when the exams will be held, etc. All leading Petty Officers and Division Officers should insure that eligible career personnel of their section or Division are recommended to the Department Heads post haste. Career personnel are defined as those men with over 7 years of service.
