Shemya Flights Asked By Reeve Airways, To Fill New Transportation Need

WASHINGTON, (AP) Reeve Aleutian Airways has asked the Civil Aeronautics Board for authority to carry passengers and cargo, as well as mail, between Adak and Shemya.

Early last year, the C.A.B. eliminated the Aleutian points of Amchitka: Shemya and Attu from Reeve's certificate because of insufficient traffic.

The airline said the situation has changed since then, however, and service is warranted once again to Shemya. At the showing by the Post Office Department that there was need for mail service to Shemya, the C.A.B. last March authorized a mail operation by Reeve. The airline now wants this broadened to include passenger and freight traffic.
