Athletic Head At Turner High
Raymond Williams, assistant coach at David T. Howard High School for the last two years, was named director of athletics and head coach at Henry McNeal Turner High School, Sidney Scarborough, director of athletics of the Atlanta Public Schools, has announced.
The new Turner High mentor replaces Ralph Long who left the prep coaching circles when the Board of Education, on recommendation of Superintendent Ira Jarrell, elected him principal of the John Hope Elementary School.
Head coach at Hubbard Training in 1949. Williams joined the Howard coaching staff in 1950 as assistant football coach and head baseball coach. Last year he served as assistant football and basketball coach and continued as head baseball coach.
