Texas Negroes Map Plans to Cast Ballots

DALLAS, Tex., Aug. 14. (UP) Formation of a state-wide organization known as "the Texas league of Democratic voters," described as a move to weld the big Negro vote into one unit and promote political activity among the state's 571,000 Negroes was revealed Monday.

W. J. Durham, Dallas attorney who was named chairman of the group, announced its formation and said it would organize the Negroes down to every precinct.

The organization was formed Thursday at a meeting in Dallas attended by 150 Negroes from various parts of the state.

The organization is a result of the recent supreme court ruling permitting Negroes to vote in primary elections.
