The pitbrow lassies of the Lancashire collieries wear trousers while engaged in their work, although at home and on Sundays female garments are donned. Possibly, however, the most remarkable "lady woman" in England at the present time is "Lady Jack," the daughter of a distinguished naval officer, who works on a farm near St. Mary Cray, dressed in a neat Norfolk suit, with cap, leggings and boots to match.
