COED IS KNOCKED COLD: FIFTEEN STUDES GET INJURIES

CHARLESTON, W. Va., Dec. 5.—Investigation was still under way Friday the football riot following the Thanksgiving game between Wilberforce and West Virginia State in which one coed was knocked unconscious and 15 male students suffered battered heads.

As a result of the incident, it is likely both officials of the two schools will discontinue the annual classic until adjustments can be made.

In the melee several hundred dollars of damage was done to property. An $11,000 contract to Wilberforce is holding up until adjustments can be made.

Wilberforce Wins, 12 to 6

Wilberforce won the game by a score of 12 to 6. That caused the State rooters to be jubilant, the Ohio team entered a snake dance which ended in the dining hall where the annual Thanksgiving dinner was to be held.

In the midst of the dinner a Wilberforce player arose, poked out his chest and said "Hail the national champions." He was told to sit down, but Wilberforce rooters urged him to continue his victory speech.

"We haven't lost a game this year and we dare anybody to tell us that we're not claimants for the national grid title, and furthermore, we came down here to this little 'one-horse town' and gave State its worst beating."

This statement further aroused State rooters and one angry youth hurled a tea cup at the speaker, hitting him in the face. Although this stopped the speech, it was the beginning of a free-for-all fight.

Cups, plates, knives, and glasses were hurled for more than 15 minutes. A riot call brought police who ended the trouble. The injured, two of whom were girls, were given first aid at the school hospital.

Starts Investigation

President Davis has started an investigation into the matter and declares he will severely punish those responsible.

He has been assured by Wilberforce authorities that similar action would be taken at the Ohio institution.

The classic between the two schools has always been looked forward to by followers of the two teams as being the most representative game of football in clean sport and friendly rivalry. Records show that Wilberforce has only won four games, while West Virginia has seven victories to its credit.
