Full Text

Eagle, who is now at Standing Rock, says that a son of Inkpad killed Gen. Custer. He rushed upon him and Custer levelled his gun, but he threw Custer's gun up and stabbed him in the breast, and passed on, but turned and shot him through the head. Lieut. Harrington and twenty men escaped six miles, but were finally caught in an alkali bed and shot down. None were captured. One man, a soldier who spoke the Sioux language, passed the Indians his gun and revolvers, but perished with his own gun. Sitting Bull reproached them severely for this. He wanted him brought to camp.
