Town Council Gives Its Sanction for Holding County Athletic Event.

The schoolboys of Essex county are to have a Marathon race. The affair will be held in Bloomfield on Saturday afternoon, April 17. Timothy Breen, a well-known sporting man of the Watsessing section of the town and a former resident of this city, appeared before the Bloomfield Town Council last night and received the sanction of that body for the race.

The Board of Trade's athletic committee, of which Hugh D. King is the chairman, will be asked by Mr. Breen to assist him in managing the affair. A number of handsome prizes will be offered for those finishing well up in the race. The course has not yet been decided upon. The police committee will assist in laying it out.
