Enemy Losses Outnumber American Planes Downed
ALLIED HEADQUARTERS IN NORTH AFRICA, Dec. 15.—The United States 12th Air Force and the RAF teamed up for a heavy battering of many ports and communications of the Axis in Tunisia yesterday, but ground action was limited to patrol activity as both sides mustered their strength for the next big battle.
The American planes, a 12th Air Force spokesman said, have destroyed a total of 70 enemy aircraft and damaged 43 more from the beginning of the North Africa campaign through December 11.
Losses of the 12th Air Force included 35 planes lost and eight missing in that period.
