Full Text

The police of the city of New York, while on duty, are in future to be provided with uniform caps, having the word "police," surmounted by the city arms, and the number of the ward to which the wearer belongs, engraven on a plate of German silver, and placed prominently on the front of each. The new cap with the prominent badge spoken of cannot be easily hid, and will doubtless have a tendency to at least secure the good conduct of the wearer, if not of those who can behave themselves only under fear of punishment.
