That on the 6th of December last, he sailed from Philadelphia in a sloop, bound to Pasquotank, having on board salt, rum, molasses, and dry goods, in order to build a vessel there; and that soon after they met with a violent gale of wind which carried away their boom, main sail, and all the rigging; that several other hard gales reduced them to a mere wreck; in which situation they continued till January, when a ship from Charles-Town to Oporto took them up, and carried them in there: From thence he got a passage to Liverpool; from whence his letter is dated the 2d of March, and intended to take his passage either to Philadelphia or this place.
