"The Experiment," that famous bantling of Andrew Jackson and Mr. Humbug Benton, is turning out rather badly. The prostration of the Bank of the United States, the removal of the deposites and the "better currency," which was to succeed the changes wrought by the wiseacres in political economy who have been managing our matters of late, are now working out their effect. Failures are daily taking place in New York and New Orleans. Mississippi is bankrupt--cotton is at 6 cents--the banks are tottering--and a tremendous crash is at hand. Hurra for Gen. Jackson's administration, the experiment, and the better currency!
