A Correspondent observes--- As it will soon be agitated in General Court, to chuse an Impost Officer, that it will be a considerable saving to the State (of at least one hundred and fifty pounds per annum) to continue it in the hands of the Naval Officer.-- The fees of the naval-office being at present very handsome, that with a small addition allowance the impost of one sea-port might be collected, and that by a person worthy of public confidence, and now well accustomed to the business.--The multiplying officers, to pay two persons to do the business of one, was formerly a great grievance, and at this day it would be a great clog to trade to wait on different officers, in many cases to pay only a few shillings, and beside being a very unnecessary burden to a government already very expensive.

A correspondent observes that as the General Court will soon debate choosing an Impost Officer, it would save the state at least £150 per year to keep the role with the Naval Officer, whose fees are already substantial and who is experienced; adding a new officer would multiply bureaucracy, burden trade, and expense to an already costly government.
